AIM:

The aim of this unit is to empower practitioners with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognise, respond to, and prevent abuse and neglect in a range of settings. This unit seeks to enhance understanding of safeguarding principles, legal frameworks, and best practices whilst promoting a culture of safety and protection for vulnerable individuals. Additionally, it aims to equip participants with the tools to promote well-being and ensure that the rights of individuals are upheld in their care and support environments. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  1. Recognise and understand the different forms of abuse and neglect, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. 
  2. Understand the relevant laws and policies related to safeguarding vulnerable individuals. 
  3. Develop and apply effective safeguarding policies and procedures in their work and clinical settings. 
  4. Demonstrate appropriate responses to safeguarding concerns, including reporting and referral processes. 
  5. Advocate for and contribute to a safeguarding culture that prioritises the health and wellbeing of individuals. 

Content to be delivered:  

    • Introduction to safeguarding 
    • Definition of safeguarding 
    • Vulnerable Individuals ( children, vulnerable adults). 
    • Key aspects of safeguarding ( protection, empowerment, prevention, partnership, proportionality, accountability). 
    • Relevant legislation and best practices. 
    • Understanding abuse ( commission and omission)  
    • Different types of abuse and neglect. Physical, emotional, sexual) . 
    • Legal and ethical roles and responsibilities  
    • Responding to concerns and reporting protocols 
    • Confidentiality and information sharing 
    • Record keeping 
    • Promoting safety cultures 
    • Mandatory training  
    • Self -Directed Learning – EBP and research  
    • End of Course Exam  
    • Reflective Practice  

Method of learning: The course is delivered entirely online, making it accessible to participants worldwide. Learning materials include a narrated presentation, a training manual, an e-library featuring evidence-based publications, administration videos and a multiple-choice quiz to test your acquisition of skills at the end of the unit.

Facilitation: The education and training content for this course is facilitated by qualified educators who are regulated healthcare professionals and who hold master level regulated qualifications in non-surgical cosmetic practice.
