AIM:

The aim of this unit is to equip practitioners with essential knowledge and skills for preventing and controlling infections in beauty and clinical settings. This unit seeks to enhance understanding of the principles of infection control and the importance of hygiene practices. Additionally, it aims to promote a culture of safety and health in workplaces, clinical environments, and communities. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the causes, transmission and effects of infection (including COVID-19). 
  2. Understand potential hazards and risks in the workplace necessary to prevent the spread of infection. 
  3. Understand the chain of infection and the controls necessary to prevent the spread of infection 
  4. Understand personal,  social and employers responsibility in the prevention and control of infection. 
  5. Understand the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hand Hygiene.  
  6. Understand decontamination and waste management processes relevant to clinical practice to minimise infection.
