AIM OF THE QUALIFICATION

This level 2 regulated award aims to develop the practitioner’s knowledge and understanding of infection prevention and control in the clinical environment. Practitioners will acquire knowledge on the importance of personal and social responsibility, as well as the types, causes, transmission, and effects of infectious diseases, including the methods used to control their transmission, such as correct hand hygiene, aseptic techniques, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understand infection and infectious disease. 
  • Understand the causes, transmission and effects of infectious diseases. 
  • Understand the controls necessary to prevent the spread of infectious disease. 
  • Understand personal and social responsibility for the safe provision of non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
  • Understand the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hand hygiene and personal hygiene in the clinical environment.
  • Understand potential hazards and risks, as well as the workplace procedures necessary to prevent the spread of infectious disease in the clinical environment.
  • Understand the waste management processes relevant to the safe disposal of clinical waste.

THE VTCT LEVEL 2 AWARD ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Assessment involves a final short written examination in the form of multiple-choice questions.

The exam is set and marked by VTCT and completed via our online platform.  Questions will cover the learning outcomes within the award.
