VTCT(ITEC) Level 3 Award in Education & Training
The VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 award in Education and Training is an OFQUAL-regulated and VTCT-accredited qualification designed for those interested in developing their careers and moving into teaching and training within their sector. This qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally and will provide learners with an introduction to the teaching role.
This qualification has been specifically designed to equip a wide range of teachers, trainers and facilitators with the foundation knowledge and skills required to fulfil a teaching or educator role within the higher education and training sector.
Although this award is an ‘introduction’ to the teaching role, successful completion of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training will permit you to deliver education and training for CPD courses and OFQUAL-regulated qualifications. To teach on a regulated and accredited qualification, you will also need to be ‘occupationally qualified’ in the applied area of practice that you intend to teach and educate. This means that you will need to hold the same regulated qualification at the correct vocational or academic level, or above, in the subject area for which you are teaching.
Regardless of geographical location, this qualification is inclusive to all, as all learning and assessment is conducted completely online, meaning there is no need to leave your home or place of work to achieve the qualification.

MAP-IQ aims to support individuals who are looking to move into education and training within their specialist area and achieve evidence of competence to teach and train in the higher education sector through the achievement of a recognised qualification.
There are three units that make up the VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
- Unit 1: Understanding the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.Â
- Unit 2: Facilitate learning and development for individuals
- Unit 3: Understand assessment in education and training.

PROGRESSION: Progression to the L4 certificate in education and training and Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (QTLS) and or to the Level 3 certificate in assessment and the L4 award in Internal Quality Assurance.
DURATION: Flexible: This qualification can be completed in weeks or up to 24 months. This will be dependent on your personal circumstances, motivation and commitment to the learning and assessment programme.
 1. Completion of a short answer written response assignment.
2. Completion of 15-20 minute micro-teaching session on a subject area of your choice.
There is no specific entry requirement to apply for the Level 3 Qualification in Education and Training. This course is suitable for anyone interested in, or looking to expand their knowledge and practical skills in teaching and education. Note: To teach in a specific subject area, you may require additional qualifications to demonstrate competence in that area of practice.Â
