The aim of the RPL accelerated assessment process (MA7D2) is to support experienced non-surgical cosmetic injectable practitioners to formally evidence competency to practice through the achievement of a regulated and accredited L7 Diploma in Non-Surgical Cosmetic Injectable Treatments.

The MA7D2 Level 7 Diploma in Non-Surgical Cosmetic Injectable Treatments involves evidencing competence for the learning outcomes across the following units. 

UMA 3: Anatomy and physiology for aesthetic procedures.

UMA 4: Principles and practice of botulinum toxin use in aesthetic practice.

UMA 5: Principles and practice of dermal fillers in aesthetic practice.

UMA 9: Principles of aesthetic practice. 

UMA 10: The principles and practice of patient assessment.

Approval: The MAP-IQ RPL accelerated assessment route to qualification has been approved by the Joint Council of Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) as meeting best practice standards. 

Qualification Title: Level 7 Diploma in Non-Surgical Cosmetic Injectable Treatments 

Vocational/Academic:  Level 7 (Equivalent to postgraduate level)

Route to Qualification: Accelerated assessment-only route – through recognition of prior learning (RPL). RPL practitioners will achieve the same level of qualification as those who have undertaken the full 7-level learning programme.

Grading: Written Exam – The cut-off mark for a pass grade is 70%. Practical skills exam: Pass/Fail

Qualification Credits: 55 level 7 RQF credits. The level 7 credits can be used towards a full MSc in Professional Practice at the University of the West of England. Other universities will also accept separate module credits towards an MSc in Professional Practice – learners are advised to check with their preferred university. 

Duration: Flexible in your own time and at your own pace. The qualification can be achieved in days, weeks, months, or years.

The RPL accelerated assessment route to qualification consists of three online assignments.

Assignment 1: Written Examination

Learners are required to undertake an online written exam to meet the unit learning outcomes for the qualification. For your written exam, you will need access to a private room, a laptop and internet access. 

Assignment 2:  Clinical Skills – Botulinum Toxin Administration 

Learners are required to perform clinical skills to demonstrate competence in applying botulinum toxin injections for cosmetic purposes. For your clinical skill assessments, you will need access to a clinical environment.

Assignment 3: Clinical Skills – Dermal Filler Administration

Learners are required to perform clinical skills to demonstrate competence in applying dermal filler injections for cosmetic purposes. For your clinical skill assessments, you will need access to a clinical environment.

The MAP-IQ RPL assessment process is conducted entirely online, allowing you to complete it from the comfort of your surroundings without the need for travel and time away from busy clinics or schedules. Our assessment pathway makes the process inclusive and accessible to all practitioners, regardless of geographic location.

MAP-IQ will provide you with access to a carefully curated online platform where you will receive full support and guidance from our expert team from start to finish. You will receive support and guidance on how to prepare for the exam, including the exam structure, the formatting of exam questions, the exam subject matter, and the assessment criteria. You will also have access to practice exam papers to test your knowledge across a range of subject areas and an e-library with useful resources and publications to support revision and exam preparation. MAP-IQ also provides practitioners with access to an online private forum where they can network with other practitioners undergoing the RPL assessment process or pose any questions to our educators and assessors. 

• A regulated medical, dental, health, allied healthcare professional or pharmacist with no conditions attached to practice and non-surgical cosmetic practice not restricted by the practitioner’s regulator.
• Previous education and training in the principles and practice of cosmetic/aesthetic procedures.
• Hands-on experience of administering 40 botulinum toxin and 40 dermal filler treatments.
• Hold full indemnity insurance cover for non-surgical cosmetic injectable procedures (must include botulinum toxin and dermal fillers),
• Where English is not the practitioner’s first language, participants must hold an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.
• International medical and healthcare practitioners must hold current registration (with no conditions to practice) with a respective regulatory body.

N.B. Practitioners are not required to be independent prescribers, but their supervising prescriber must be present in the same building for their clinical skills assessment (OSCE).
