WHY MAP-IQ WAS ESTABLISHED

At MAP-IQ we are passionate about improving patient safety within the clinical aesthetic sector and believe patients electing to have non-surgical aesthetic treatments have the right to be treated by suitability qualified and regulated practitioners.

Regulated medical and healthcare practitioners are mandated to adhere to a professional code of practice, this includes registrants being able to evidence competence in a new field of clinical practice. Here at MAP-IQ we recognise that competence to practice in clinical aesthetics is not assessed or validated in any under-graduate training or qualifications, nor can it be assessed or acquired through attendance at a  CPD course.

With this in mind, and the recent proposals by the Joint Council of Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) for a mandated licensing scheme for all practitioners and premises, MAP-IQ  has spent the last year collaborating with qualification regulators, awarding organisations, the JCCP and sector experts to develop a regulated but flexible route to qualification enabling experienced aesthetic practitioners to formally evidence competence to practice in clinical aesthetics.

“Only the best in this disparate sector commit themselves to better training and practice, whilst the unscrupulous and unsafe carry on as before¨ (Keogh, 2013).

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR YOU!

With the recent All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) recommendations to the UK government for regulated and industry standardised qualifications in clinical aesthetics, now is a good time to consider joining the UK’s growing community of qualified clinical aesthetic practitioners and differentiate yourself from those who remain unqualified and unregulated.

Benefits include:

  • A regulated and JCCP approved level 7 qualification in clinical aesthetic practice
  • Authority to use the following post-nominals (PgDipAES).
  • Authority to differentiate yourself from those who remain unqualified and or unregulated.
  • Validation of competence to your professional regulatory body to practice in a new field of medicine.
  • Assurance to your patients of competence to provide modality-specific treatments in autonomous practice.
  • Progression route to enter the education and training arena for clinical aesthetics.
  • Eligible for full registration on Part A of the JCCP register of qualified clinical aesthetic practitioners.
  • Eligibility to access the independent prescribing programme as a self-employed aesthetic practitioner.
  • Achievement of a nationally and internationally recognised and regulated qualification.

The RPEL assessment process is not for everyone, practitioners who are relatively new to aesthetic medicine should consider undertaking the full regulated level 7 learning programme.
